  • What to Do When Your Child Doesn't Want to Leave Day Care

When you first enrol your child in a day care centre, you may have a hard time leaving them there with other kids in a new environment. However, over time, your child might grow to love the facility and enjoy spending time with other kids to the point that they don't want to leave during pickup time. This situation can be bittersweet—you have to deal with the tantrums and cries of your kid, but it's also comforting to know that they enjoy their time at the centre that much.

  • Quick Tips When You Need to Find a Nanny or Sitter for Your Child

If you need a long-term sitter or nanny for your child, it's important that you find one who gets along with your child personally and who understands all the responsibilities you expect them to handle. This can be more difficult than you might imagine, as a teenager who is just looking to make a few extra dollars on the side may be available for repeated babysitting work but may not be a good fit with your child or able to handle the responsibility of his or her long-term care.

  • Celebrating Grandparents Day at Your Child Care Centre

Grandparents have a strong role in many children's lives, often providing child care and picking the children up from child care centres when their parents are unable to do so, as well as picking up a full load of caring for children in some families. Grandparents day, on the last Sunday of October, provides an opportunity for you to work with the kids to thank grandparents for all that they do.

  • 3 Tips to Help You Evaluate a Child Care Centre for Pre-school Children

One of the most important decisions you'll make when you have a young child is the person(s) under whose care you leave them when you can't be around. Whether they are baby-sitting for a few hours so you can run errands or you'll take the child there regularly while you work, it's important to know who they are and how they work before deciding whether or not you can entrust your child to them.

  • About Me

    Providing a secure environment

As an educator I need to make sure that my kids are always safe, emotionally and physically. It can be hard to keep an eye on so many children so I have to put a lot of effort into planning the environment so that they are always in safe position. A lot of the time I try to think like a kid to work out how they might like to explore the room and what objects they'll pick up and try and use. If you'd like to read some of my ideas and tip on setting up childcare rooms read on.
